Uma Maheshwara Ugra Roopasya: Uma Maheshwara Ugra Roopasya Full Movie Review:
Venkatesh Maha's second movie Uma Maheshwara Ugra Roopasyais an adaptation from the Malayalam film Maheshinte Prathikaaram. Anyone who has seen the original film will not be shocked by the simple script written by Syam Pushkaran. The humour present in the everyday occurrences of life (especially when Mahesh's father thinks the world is beautiful) and, of course how adorable Mahesh's character really is. This could be the most sweet tale of revenge that you'll ever come across.
Uma Maheshwara Rao (Satyadev) is a nice man photographer who isn't great at what he does but is able to do it, hates the confrontations and has a shrewd bone. He's awe-inspiringly in the love of his childhood sweetheart Swathi (Chandana Koppisetti) and has dreams of getting married to her one day. His most trusted friend is healing practitioner in the local area Babji (Naresh) who's the same as own father. When a sequence of events leads to Mahesh being slapped by a man in the market Mahesh vows to never wear any footwear (you have it right) until he takes revenge on the person who was responsible (he even teaches Kung Fu).
Don't get us wrong but this isn't one of those movies where the lead actor with the most macho looks has a six-pack and will take off his shirt and beat his adversaries to shreds in no time. Actually, it's quite the opposite. Mahesh is working towards his moment of catharsis and healing and we too. Each of the character's actions, even in the event of a mistake or illogical, are dismissed with a smile. After her introduction by the spunky Jyothi (Roopa Koduvayur) is accused of not being polite within the hearing range of her mother by a guest. The girl then calls Mahesh for taking her photos without permission and Suhas (played by Suhas) who is working alongside Babji is heard yelling out his thoughts of regress in an emotionally touching scene.
The rustic and natural setting in the lush surroundings of Araku make the whole film appear like a dream in a relaxed way. Bijibal's background music and tracks particularly Ningi Chutte, take on an ethereal quality of their own and transport you to the location. Although the editing could have been more crisp and the film which already has a very short running time even more compact, it's not an issue in the film. Maha spends his own time in exploring characters that ultimately don't have anything to do with the story, but are crucial to make you aware of the surroundings Mahesh has to live in. Mahesh's elderly father (whom people think is in a state of mind) is his sensei during crucial moments and shares wisdom without even needing them.
