Mimi (Kriti Sanno) is a young girl from poverty who dreams of being a Bollywood star. She doesn't have the money to pay for all the costs and it will be costly. Summer (Evelyn Edwards), and John (Aidan Whytock) approach her about becoming a surrogate mom for their child. She agrees because the money is good. But a sudden, major crisis in her early pregnancy will test her resolve.
Mimi initially resentful at the idea of surrogacy but soon accepts it when she realizes how much money is involved. She accepts the offer almost with glee. She is naive and asks her doctor about stretch marks, pregnancy and the effects of pregnancy on her body. The doctor replies with the most absurd unconcern: "Did Shilpa's figure get destroyed"? Yes. Because our lives are very similar to Shilpa's.
Kriti Sanon is an odd choice for this role. Kriti Sanon seems too cosmopolitan for the role of small-town girl and her Rajasthani accent almost makes it seem absurd.
Her parents are also badly made. These "good" people are blind bats. They complain about their Hindu daughter marrying a Muslim man in front Shama, Shama's closest friend, who is a Muslim woman. They then turn around to accuse Shama of breaking their trust.
Although they are depicted as simple, small-town people with a kind heart who don't mind if a fly landed on them (unless that was a good, moral girl-fly), their attitudes can be quite backward and bigoted. Their attitudes change quickly. One moment they are crying and beating their chests over the shame and dishonor and the next they are smiling and accepting.
