Krishna And His Leena: Krishna And His Leena Full Movie Review:
Krishna, who is presumably in the Himalayas to find himself, exhorts the viewer not to judge his character or circumstances at the beginning. Even if that is impossible for you, director Ravikanth Perepu provides enough support to help you not only be non-judgemental about this man's leelu but also to relate to him on some level.
Krishna (Siddhu Jaonnalagadda), is not hard to fall in love with. It's not his fault though, as he is constantly surrounded with strong, sexy women. Satya, his first love (Shraddha Shrinath), is spunky and doesn't have time for his insecure nonsense. He's his senior at college, and they navigate the difficult relationship together in their own inept ways. Radha, his second love (Shalini Vadnikatti), has her own mind and is seeking something serious. Krishna will settle down with Radha. Chaos ensues when Satya is offered a job in Bengaluru. His trusted BFF Harsha Chemudu, who sometimes engages in misogynistic dialogues, and his sister Arya (Samyukta Horad) roommate Ruksaar(Seerat Kapoor), who is a cafe owner who watches the proceedings and helps him to get clarity when it comes.
Relationships are fraught with miscommunications and rarely work out well in real life. Siddhu and Ravikanth Perepu's story explores this 'inconvenience' well. Krishna is thrown around like a ball due to his inability to see the hard truth. It's clear that Siddhu and Ravikanth are skilled at the scenes leading up to Krishna realizing he's in exactly the same boat as his father (Sampath), which he and Jhansi absolutely hate. This is a topic that could have been explored more. Krishna & His Leela's basic concept does recall Vivek Athreya’s stunning debut film Mental Madhilo. But this tale dares explore it further.
This film is a refreshingly different take on love. It goes beyond the typical girl-falls-in love-marries her tropes. Ravikanth & Siddhu are able to handle a sensitive subject without making excuses. However, the film's ending is still a rom-com that can be enjoyed even at home with lots of popcorn. It's not a bad thing. We do wish Ruksaar had explored her character a little more, especially since she seems comfortable with herself. Sure. It's all worth it in the end. Did Siddhu and Ravikanth just manage to slip in a story of polyamory right under our noses as well? That's a great achievement.
This one is a delight for Siddhu. Siddhu is amazing in every aspect of this performance, particularly when he breaks the fourth wall to show how he feels. His character is easy to like and he does it well. Shraddha Srinath glides effortlessly through her role almost as if she doesn't have to push herself beyond what her abilities allow. Shalini Vadnikatti plays the vulnerable, weepy girl but sometimes falters. Seerat Kapoor is also a delight, even though she doesn't get as much screen space as the others. She manages to keep her own pretty well. The music of Sricharan Pakala, particularly the humorous Pulihoratrack breaks up the monotonous proceedings.
