Honest Thief: Honest Thief Full Movie Review:
Tom Carter (Liam Neeson) who is branded the "in and out" bandit by media and the police for his sophisticated bank robberies suddenly decides to go for the high road and give up. He is determined to repay the entire $9 million money from the banks which he robbed.In exchange, he's hoping to negotiate a lesser sentence, and also get the right to visit. The reason behind this decision lies with Annie (Kate Walsh) who is a spunky middle-aged divorcee who has been dating for just one year.
Tom's initial attempts to surrender are dismissed as pranks made by FBI agents, however then two officers, who are young, Agent Nivens (Jai Courtney) and Agent Hall (Anthony Ramos) are assigned to verify the authenticity of Tom's assertions. There's a surprise twist which leads to an unanticipated adventure that is filled with violent gunfights as well as car chases and even murder.
The 68-year-old Neeson is the main character in this thriller which starts off as an easy meet-cute routine that is the most tender romantic love tale. The acting is expertly choreographed and convincing, which is in line with the age of Neeson's the character. The film isn't odd, regardless of the fact director Williams doesn't give us more understanding of the characters he has created. Everything is presented in broad strokes. It it works because the film moves at a good pace and doesn't spend time with unnecessary emotional scenes or drama. The rapport of Neeson as well as Walsh is hardly noticeable. But, it's a minor price to pay for rapid action, in which the villains are dealt the punishment they deserve.
Liam Neeson plays the driving force behind this film, thanks to his smart and charming face. It makes it easy to be a fan even when he's taking millions of dollars. Kate Walsh's sly charm performs its magic even in the character written in a way which doesn't fully realize her potential. Jai Courtney is befittingly arrogant and extravagant as the rebellious FBI official. Meanwhile, Anthony Ramos comes off as perfectly vulnerable. However, It's Jeffrey Donovan who seems to enjoy the most as his recently separated Agent Meyers. In a dog owned by his ex-wife in a battle for alimony that is losing all the time and he's the comic relief at times with his sarcastic remark in this film that is otherwise serious.
