Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari: Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari Full Movie Review:
The time Gurunam Singh Dhillon (Manoj Phawa) took the risk of a lifetime and moved his bases in Bombay from Punjab in the hope of becoming a household name in the city, he not only got married to the woman he had always wanted to marry (Seema Bhargava) as well as inherited 22 buffaloes. Then, in the year 1995. Papa Dhillon now has everything he's ever hoped for and has constructed Jai Matarani Dh Bhandar with dahi, love and plenty of paneer (brace yourself: there's significant amount of dairy in the film for those who are lactose-intolerant). However, one thing was not his to pass to his sole Son, Suraj Singh Dhillon (Diljit Dosanjh) has always been his ability to attract girls. When the shrewd journalist brings back the Kundali of an English-speaking shorts-wearing lady from Bhandup The entire Dhillon family gets excited. However, the little girl smells of Ghee and needs to be sealed away for good. Many rejections later Suraj's bestie Sukhi who is a mere impersonation of Amitabh Bachchan from his angry young man stage and suggests that he become the type of girl that girls want. If a prospective client accepts her offer but then loses that chance to be a little more hopeful. Instead, he is presented with a collection of images of him drinking beers.
Who has insulted his family and him? Most importantly, who is planning to wed him in the near future? Suraj will not let the sun set and must be punished. The perpetrator is a self-proclaimed wedding detective who has an impressive collection of 48 exposes Madhu Mangal Rane. She is unaware of his shady plans however. What is the outcome when these two metaphor-tossing two ego-maniacs fight and who's at risk who is at risk? "Suraj Pe Magl Bhaari" is a smackdown at the idea of marriages arranged and the snooping in families in search of that 'one one ladka or chha and do you know what? We're laughing!
In wearing a nuvari saree with a nath, and exuding an aura of charm that could easily be misinterpreted as an upscale hottie in the area, Manoj Bajpayee is hilarious as the hilarious undercover wedding detective who gossips at the local temple in his opening scene. The jokes are incredibly local and the manner of speaking is that is all too familiar. In the midst the equally funny and experienced humourist is added to the cast, Annu Kapoor as Kaka an old friend of the family as well as a business liability, who's only contribution is that rane once helped his deceased father by giving him 1200 rupees. They feed off each other's enthusiasm and their comedy timing is flawless, particularly when they fight about biryanis and bills. Fatima Sana Shaikh appears as Turshi Rane (Turshi not Tulsi) A "gharelu Ladki" during the day, and a secluded DJ in the evening her looks are attractive and a chameleon that is a pleasure to be around - calm when the situation calls for it and a rebel when it becomes tough. The thing that elevates this movie higher is Diljit's superb dialog delivery and comic timing. A dialogue as silly as "kya kar rahin hai, butter hands?" or "first sight mein, torch light pe, mujhe tumse pyaar hogaya" could be a difficult one for many actors, but Diljit has a way of capturing the audience in the most flashy of scenes and can make one laugh, even though that the joke has become stale. His chemistry with Sukhi and the quarrel with Bajpayee keeps the momentum of the movie going at an erupting pace especially in the first half of the film is particularly entertaining. The film 'Suraj pe Mangal Bhaari' is a brainless comedy (not making a joke in this instance) but not everything is designed to make sense.
From the beginning it's evident that the authors of the film - Shokhi Banerjee Rohan Shankar, and Rohan Shankar are incredibly involved in getting the details of the respective actions correct and each of the characters have been assigned distinct identities and pull-backs. The way milk works for Suraj and marriage to Rane. Find out the reasons behind this. The celebration of various cultures and their intermixing is a worthy mention, particularly in the scene in which a group musicians wearing a turban are singing an original Marathi marriage song.
