Dharala Prabhu: Dharala Prabhu Full Movie Review:
Remaking an Hindi film that dealt with an interesting and challenging issue to Tamil isn't an easy job. To tell a story of the donation of sperm convincingly and to make needed changes from Vicky Donor to suit Tamil the nativity is a skillful execution. Director Krishna Marimuthu has done this to a large degree.
The story begins by introducing Kannadasan (Vivekh) (Vivekh) an experienced doctor who operates a fertility clinic located in Parry's Corner, searching for the most suitable sperm donor for his patients who make bizarre requirements. After many challenges when he stumbles upon Prabhu (Harish Kalyan) an unassuming youngster who is obsessed with football, her mother and grandmother. Kannadasan is approached by Prabhu to become a donor of sperm and explains why he should do this, but Prabhu does not agree despite numerous attempts for him to agree. However, a personal event that takes place in his life leads him to accept Kannadasan and the doctor observes a massive increase of his own business.
In the meantime, Prabhu falls in love with Nidhi (Tanya Hope) and the two decide to tie the knot. Following initial struggles due to the diverse backgrounds of the two families the couple receives a hug at the direction of their parents. However, fate has some other ideas for Prabhu when he realises how his love affair with Nidhi is at risk of breaking down due to his frequent donation of sperm.
Harish Kalyan can be found in the role that was easily performed in the film by Ayushmann Khurrana, in the initial version. He portrays the childish boy-next-door-to-the-door with ease and creates a strong rapport with all the actors who appear in the movie. Tanya Hope is decent in her role, and she has right facial expressions in scenes that require a dramatic impact. However, it's Vivekh who is the star of many scenes thanks to his punchlines as well as his effortless acting. His character, which is full of humor and emotion is in tune with the plot. Anupama and Sachu also deliver engaging performances.
Selvakumar's cinematography is pleasant and creates the mood needed for the film and is also a important aspect. Some slow-paced scenes in the second half slow down the flow after an hour. A more effective background score and more focus on the emotional scenes could have created an ideal remake.
