Baaram Movie (2020) | Full Hd Movie | Mp4moviezbox
When we first meet Karuppasamy (R Raju) in Baaram in Baaram, he's at a village fair admiring the sights with a childlike fascination. In actual fact when he is discussing the fair together with his sibling (Jayalakshmi) the two talk about their childhood. Karuppasamy is an security guard in an apartment complex and lives with his sisters and three of her sons who are loving towards their mother. Contrary to his son Senthil (SuPa Muthukumar) who is coldhearted, when he hears his father has been injured in an accident, he's not willing to delay a family excursion to see the elderly man. When the doctor suggests they undergo a procedure then he decides to bring the father back home. Then, a few days later the old man passes to the grave. At the funeral, there's a rumour of Karuppasamy being killed along with one nephew, Veera (Sugumar Shanmugam) is determined to find out the truth of the matter.
Like the subject of the film of Madhumita KD (a) Karuppu Durai, Thalaikoothal, the traditional form of senicide is the focus of the film by Priya Krishnaswamy Baaram. However, while the previous film utilized the senicide as a starting for an uplifting bond between an elderly man and a child, Baaram is more concerned with showing how even the law is rendered ineffective when it is compared to traditional practices. The approach is more documentary-like and the director strips away the drama of this plot as much as is feasible. The arthouse style is positive and negative. It allows the director to shed an eye on how human desire can turn a routine which started out as a gesture of compassion into something that is akin to organized crime. We also have a few peaceful moments, such as when we watch a sting operation by a journalist, which reveals the way in which this is now commonplace. The handheld camera gives filmmakers feel like a flier on the wall, and he can observe the activities of the characters, without making any judgments about them.
But, it also gives an unnatural feel for the story. We're a step away from the emotional state that the actors feel, which means their issues never come to life to us. The actors are raw and a bit rigid. The characters are also depicted in black and white. As an example we aren't given the reason behind Senthil's naive behavior towards his dad. The way we approach them is to make them objects on which the director could hang her story. They result in a movie that challenges you to think about it but doesn't inspire you to feel.
